After the F1 75 live event concluded, there were many mixed feelings about how it went. Many people thought it felt dragged out and almost too “scripted” at times. There was some fun that was had, from Gordon Ramsey calling out the FIA’s swearing ban to Aston Martin’s James Bond display.
Overall, the event went off mostly without a hitch (a few microphone issues aside).
The main focal point, we all were watching to see, was the reveal of each team’s livery for the upcoming 2025 campaign. A season that will surely go down in the history books as one of the most exciting and thrilling we’ve seen in a long time.
Here are my rankings of the 2025 liveries from 10-1:
10. Sauber

The Sauber looks good on the front end, finally using the green to their advantage. The fade into black towards the back of the car works well but the back of the car feels very bare with a limited amount of sponsors. Adding some more pop of green to the back of the car would’ve made it look better.
9. Red Bull

There’s nothing wrong with winning. Red Bulls have won the last 4 drivers championships with Max Verstappen and 2 of the last 4 constructors championships (2022 and 2023). The biggest problem here was Max asked for a new livery, Red Bull had seemed to oblige, and then we got the same livery.
8. Aston Martin

The difference between seventh and eighth are very close to me but the Aston Martin felt just a little bit more disappointing. The green color of the Aston looks amazing and it feels like there is more that they can do with it. There is nothing wrong with keeping things simple, but it seems they are taking the 2024 Alpine approach of using less paint on the car.
7. Williams

The dark to medium blue gradient is what puts this livery above the Aston Martin. That’s really all to say about it. The new sponsor, Atlassian, feels overwhelming. The Duracell engine cover was a great idea when they first launched it but now it’s feeling like a Red Bull livery. Finally, the Gulf sponsorship, which could be an amazing opportunity to use. Williams did a “three” off Gulf livery last season at Singapore, Qatar, and Japan, that looked great.
6. Haas

The so-called “America’s Team” in F1, has branded itself that way since it joined the grid. The livery is nice and clean. The black base with the white going down the side pods fits Haas very well. The use of red is just enough to keep the car from being boring. The only downside to this is the new sponsor, Toyota, is hidden on the back of the rear wing.
5. McLaren

McLaren feel like they are starting to go down the Red Bull route, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, when it comes to the livery. The papaya is still working very well for McLaren, which is why it is this high on the list. The sponsorship placement on the car also helps, there’s no overlap on the colors making each one stand out.
4. Ferrari

Iconic, that’s the word that comes to mind when thinking of a Ferrari F1 car. The 2025 livery embodies that in every way. The issue with the livery is the blue HP logo. Since they are the title sponsor, it doesn’t hurt Ferrari as much but it just feels “un-Ferrari”. Other than that, the white paint down the engine cover gives it more pop and the yellow of the Shell logo adds to the yellow of the Ferrari.
3. Mercedes

Almost identical to last years livery, the 2025 Mercedes adds to the blue stripe down the side pods that looks great and fits in well with the silver to black gradient. This feels like what Sauber wanted to do but the subtlety the Mercedes brings works better.
2. Alpine

Seemingly doing a 180 from the idea of the 2024 livery. The big turning point, actually adding paint to the car. For the last two or three years, Alpine have been trying to shed weight by adding less and less paint and using more bare carbon. The way the blue and pink bounce off of each other but also gel so well, make this one of the best liveries. Any other year this would have been number one, this year another stand above the rest.
1. Racing Bulls

This… this livery is perfect, 10/10, no notes. The white base, looking similar to Red Bull’s 2021 one off for the Turkish Grand Prix, is pristine and something F1 teams don’t do often. The blue Visa logo on the side pods fits very well along with the blue bull progression on the engine cover.
We are on the cusp of a season that could possibly be talked about for a very long time. We will get our first look at all of the cars on track in Bahrain for preseason testing, February 26th through 28th.
